Aeromodelling Competition


1. In conjunction with the squadron education display, aeromodelling competitions shall be conducted for individual members. Members may compete in the following nominated age groups and shall be subject to the conditions of entry.

2. Separate boys and girls entries shall be accepted for the following categories:
• Chuck Glider - wing span not less than 30cm
• Built-up Balsa Model - (Control-line; Radio Control; Free Flight)
• Plastic Model
• Diorama

Judging shall be based on the following criteria:


Chuck Glider: Wingspan not less than 30cm.
Group One - Best Boys and Best Girls Chuck Glider Competitions (8 - 11 years of age inclusive)
Group Two - Best Boys and Best Girls Chuck Glider Competitions (12 - 14 years of age inclusive)


Built up Balsa Model (Control-line; Radio Control; Free Flight)
Group One - Best Boys and Best Girls Balsa Model Competitions (8 - 11 years of age inclusive)
Group Two - Best Boys and Best Girls Balsa Model Competitions (12 - 14 years of age inclusive)
Group Three - Best Boys and Best Girls Balsa Model Competitions (15 - 17 years of age inclusive)
Group Four - Best Boys and Best Girls Balsa Model Competitions (18 years of age and over)


Plastic Model Competitions

Group One - Best Boys and Best Girls Plastic Model Competitions (8 - 11 years of age inclusive)
Group Two - Best Boys and Best Girls Plastic Model Competitions (12 - 14 years of age inclusive)
Group Three - Best Boys and Best Girls Plastic Model Competitions (15 - 17 years of age inclusive)
Group Four - Best Boys and Best Girls Plastic Model Competitions (18 years of age and over)

 

Diorama Competitions
Group One - Best Boys and Best Girls Diorama Competitions (8 - 11 years of age inclusive)
Group Two - Best Boys and Best Girls Diorama Competitions (12 - 14 years of age inclusive)
Group Three - Best Boys and Best Girls Diorama Competitions (15 - 17 years of age inclusive)
Group Four - Best Boys and Best Girls Diorama Competitions (18 years of age and over)

 

General Conditions of Entry:

All entries in the aeromodelling competitions must comply with the following:
1. Individual members shall enter only one model each in each aeromodelling competition.
2. Age of entry shall be as at the date of the Australian Air League Review 2006.
3. All models being entered in the aeromodelling competition(s) shall be set up on Saturday 30 September 2006 between 0700 hours and 0900 hours in readiness for judging.
4. All models shall be removed from display following the presentations on Saturday 30 September 2006.
5. Entries are to be notified to the relevant Group Education Commissioner, by Saturday 5 August 2006. Entries are required from all units, including nil returns, to ensure that all squadrons are accounted for. The Group Education Commissioners then have until Saturday 19 August 2006 to pass all entries to the Federal Education Commissioner.
6. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Federal Education Commissioner up to the date of the Review. Late entries will not be accepted on the day for judging, but any models that have not been entered may be displayed in the display area.
7. Members entering models shall be current financial uniformed members of the Australian Air League, Inc. Membership cards may be checked.
8. Models that have previously won either first, second or third place in an Australian Air League Review aeromodelling competition will not be accepted.
9. Whilst all care will be taken to safeguard models from damage or loss, the Council of the Australian Air League accepts no responsibility for any model or diorama.


Judging: All models entered in aeromodelling competitions shall be set up as directed between 0700 hours and 0900 hours on Saturday 30 September 2006. Judging of the aeromodelling competitions shall commence at 0900 hours. Except for authorised persons all persons will vacate the display area whilst judging is being conducted.
