The Education competitions will be conducted at the main grandstand, Manuka
Oval, Canberra Avenue, Kingston ACT. Field competitions will also be conducted
at Manuka Oval. All competitions will commence in accordance with the Review
timetable of events as described on page 2 of the Digest. In a continuing effort to
ensure competitors at the AAL Review maintain their strive for excellence in the
competitions, a minimum standard of marking competitors shall apply.
Consequently, individuals / units who find that they are the sole entrant in a
competition will be declared the winner only if they reach the minimum standard
required. Officers selected as judges for Field competitions are required to attend
a judges briefing prior to the commencement of the relevant competition they are
judging. The briefing shall take place in accordance with the timetable of events.
Uniform Requirements - Day Competitions
The dress for the day competitions will be full AAL summer / tropical uniform. If
inclement weather conditions prevail, Officers may wear tunics or AAL jumpers.
Cadets may wear AAL jumpers. However, AAL jumpers shall not be worn during
the uniform judging in competitions. Members will be advised by the AAL Review
Commanding Officer on the day.
Authorised decorations shall be worn on the
uniform in the form of ribbons only.
Cerenomial Wreath Laying Parade - Sunday 1 October 2006
The Ceremonial Wreath Laying Parade will be conducted on Sunday 1 October 2006. The venue for the Ceremonial Wreath Laying Parade is the Australian War Memorial (AWM) Anzac Parade, Campbell ACT. Attached is a location map of the AWM. All units shall arrive at 0845hrs and commence forming up as directed in front of the main entrance of the AWM at 0900hrs.

Uniform Dress: Full / Tropical AAL uniform shall be worn in accordance with Section 18 of the Australian Air League Manual. This shall include gloves as required and approved medals and decorations. At the discretion of the Parade Commanding Officer, full summer / tropical AAL uniform may be worn.
Ceremonial Wreath Laying Parade – Order of March: All members shall march in massed flights formation as determined by the Parade staff. Flags shall also march in massed formation and the AAL Band will be massed.
Procedure: Under the direction of the Parade Commanding Officer, the parade will move off at 0930hrs. The Parade will proceed across the front of the AWM and form up as directed in front of the Bomber Command Memorial. A short non-denominational service will take place followed by the Wreath Laying Ceremony. Following the Sounding of Last Post and Reville, the Parade will move off and be dismissed.
Conclusion: Members are advised that at the conclusion of the Ceremonial Wreath Laying Parade, arrangements have been made for AAL members, friends and family who wish to do so, for guided tours of the AWM. As this is the first time the AAL has held this type of Wreath Laying Ceremony at the AWM, I would encourage as many members as possible to attend and make this Parade the memorable event it is expected to be.
