Flag Party Drill


Conditions: A Flag Party must consist of three (3) bearers, three (3) escorts and an N.C.O. in Charge. N.C.O. in Charge should be a Sergeant. If a Sergeant is not available, the N.C.O. in charge must be equal to or higher in rank than the bearers.

Bearers shall be no higher in rank than Corporals, but if Corporals are not available, must be senior in rank to the escorts. Escorts should be no higher in rank than Leading Cadets, but if Leading Cadets are not available they may be Cadets. Escorts shall be junior in rank to bearers. For competition purposes only,
where a Sergeant is not available to be the N.C.O. in charge a Squadron Sergeant may act in that capacity. Members of the Flag Party shall comply with the provisions as laid down in Section 13 of the Australian Air League Manual regarding equipment and dress. Full details regarding uniforms shall be as detailed in Section 18 of the Australian Air League Manual. Separate Boys’ and Girls’ competitions shall be conducted for Flag Party drill.

 

Procedure: N.C.O.-in-charge shall position the unit in a straight line as required in the ‘Fall In’ procedure, will then report to the Uniform Judge, giving the name of the Squadron. On completion of the judging, the N.C.O.-in-charge will report back to the Uniform Judge.On the Judge’s instruction to proceed, the N.C.O.-in-charge will report to the Static Judge, giving the name of the Squadron and fall-in the flag party in accordance with the ‘Fall-In’ procedure.

On completion of the ‘Fall-In’, the N.C.O.-in-charge will again report to the Static Judge and on the Judge’s instruction proceed to march
the unit to the position indicated on the appropriate diagram for field judging and order flags. N.C.O.-in-charge will report to the Field Judge, giving the name of the Squadron, then move to the correct position at the rear of the Flag Party and give the necessary commands for the field competition movements.

On completion of the field competition movements, N.C.O.-in-charge will again report to the Field Judge, and when instructed slope flags and march the Flag Party off the competition area.


Movements: The movements to be performed for Flag Party Drill are as follows and are in accordance with Diagram No.6 of Section 13 of the Australian Air League manual.
