Message from the Chief Commissioner
As your Chief Commissioner, it is my privilege and pleasure to extend an invitation
to you as Members, Parents and Friends of the Australian Air League to attend
and participate in the 2006 Australian Air League Review at Manuka Oval,
Kingston, Australian Capital Territory.
The Australian Air League Review has been held in Canberra once previously in
1988. So it is great to return to the Australian Capital City and it’s numerous
attractions.
Our hosts for this year’s Review are the Officers, Cadets and Supporters of the
New South Wales Boys’ Group. In recognition of the 60th Anniversary of the New
South Wales Girls’ Group (1945-2005), they have been selected to lead the
Review Ceremonial Parade on Saturday afternoon.
The magnificent facilities at Manuka Oval will aid in producing the best from our
competitors and encourage the spirit of friendly rivalry that exists within the
League. Nothing can compare with the spirit of belonging that such a gathering encourages.
I would also like to thank Commissioner Peter Glover our Federal Field
Commissioner and his staff, both within and outside the organisation, for their
contribution towards the success of the Review.
The Review this year has a particular significance for myself as it will be the last
major event that I will preside over as your Chief Commissioner. My term of office
concludes on 31 December 2006 after eight years in this appointment. I would like
to thank everyone for their support during my time as Chief Commissioner and
hope that you will give my successor the same level of assistance that you have
shown me. Leading an organisation of this size as spare time volunteers is no
mean feat and all my Staff are to be commended for their efforts. You will have the
opportunity to meet the new Chief Commissioner at the Review.
This, the 62nd AAL Review, should be a great and exciting time for all and I look
forward to spending as much time as possible with you during the Review so that I
too can share the triumphs and tribulations, thrills and despair that such an event
creates.
Chief Comr Keith Bridge L.M., DSA., MSA.,
Chief Commissioner
