Australian Air League Review – Ballarat, Victoria – 1 October 2016

Ballarat_Logo_SmallThe 2016 Australian Air League Review was held at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility in Redan, Ballarat, Victoria on 1 October 2016.  This was the second time an AAL Review was held in Ballarat, the last time being 2004.  The Reviewing Officer was Rear Admiral Kevin J Scarce AC, CSC, RANR, former Governor of South Australia.  He flew with the South Australian Wing directly from Adelaide to Ballarat to attend the event.

Despite some inclement weather, the rain cleared and the Review program was completed in full except for the inaugural drone flying competition, which unfortunately had to be cancelled. Other new competitions included Aircraft Recognition and an extended Balsa Chuck Glider competition which included a flying component for the first time.

Cadets from New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Victoria attended.  In field, competitions were divided into three categories, Female, Male and Mixed Gender and overall winners were declared in each field competition.
